Hundreds attend PSJA ISD’s first Trunk or Treat Bash in celebration of Red Ribbon Week
In an effort to provide students, families, and community members a safe space to partake in Halloween festivities while simultaneously bringing awareness to the importance of living a drug-free life, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) held its first-ever Trunk or Treat Bash on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the PSJA Stadium.
PHARR – In an effort to provide students, families, and community members a safe space to partake in Halloween festivities while simultaneously bringing awareness to the importance of living a drug-free life, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) held its first-ever Trunk or Treat Bash on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the PSJA Stadium.
The theme of the event was “Say Boo to Drugs” in connection to the district’s 2023 Red Ribbon Campaign activities. Through this event as well as many others during the month of October, PSJA ISD emphasized efforts to educate students and staff about the dangers of drug usage while uniting the tri-city communities for the cause.
During the event, attendees' safety visit campus and department tables to receive free candy and participate in free games such as pumpkin ski ball, photo booths, face painting, and more.
Additionally, PSJA ISD hosted its very first Costume Contest where elementary and secondary students showcased their family-friendly costumes for a chance to win a trophy in one of three categories: Funniest Costume, Most Creative Costume, and Scariest Costume.
Campuses and departments also got to join in on the fun by unleashing their creativity and decorating their trunks while incorporating the district’s sustainability initiative.
The PSJA ISD Office of Sustainability judged trunks and named the winners of PSJA ISD’s inaugural Sustainability Trunk Decorating Contest.
· 1st Place – Carmen Anaya Elementary
· 2nd Place – Arnold Cantu Elementary
· 3rd Place – PSJA Pathways Toward Independence/LIFE Program
