Lady Raider signs to continue volleyball career at Massachusetts Maritime Academy

PHARR – PSJA North Early College High School (PSJA North ECHS) Lady Raider, Sadie Garcia, signed a letter of intent on Feb. 5, 2024, to continue her volleyball career at the collegiate level with Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA). The signing ceremony, attended by her family, friends, and campus administration, marked a significant milestone in Garcia's journey.

Sadie is a dedicated and motivated student-athlete, committed to pursuing volleyball at the collegiate level with MMA while concurrently realizing her dream of enlisting in the United States Navy.

Throughout her tenure at PSJA North ECHS, Garcia showcased exceptional skills and determination in achieving her goals. She garnered various accolades in the sport, including being a 4-time Varsity Volleyball Letterman, earning Volleyball All-District 31-5A Honorable Mention, serving as Varsity Volleyball Captain, and being part of the All-District 31-5A All-Academic Team & All-District Honorable Mention, among others.

While her prowess on the volleyball court was evident, Garcia also excelled academically, enrolling in numerous Advanced Placement classes.

Furthermore, PSJA North ECHS played a pivotal role in Garcia's discovery of her love and passion for JROTC. Engaging with the program, she assumed the responsibilities and leadership role of JROTC Cadet Captain 1st Sergeant, reinforcing her commitment to answering the call to serve the nation.

Expressing her gratitude for finding MMA, Garcia looks forward to balancing her passion for volleyball with pursuing a degree in Emergency Management and completing her basic training.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Coach Lancaster and JROTC Instructor Sergeant First Class Rivera for truly making a profound impact on my life,” said Garcia. “I would also like to express my gratitude to my family for their unwavering support and constant presence in encouraging my dreams.”
